Growing up in a middle class family, where his dad was a member of both the USWA and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), Jason learned the importance of hard work early in his life. His first job was mowing the grass and taking care of the baseball diamonds at the local FOP Lodge #36 on South Bend’s south side.
While working on his bachelor’s degree at Indiana University South Bend, Jason worked full-time in a downtown South Bend stockroom. Jason continued to work full-time and continued his education completing a master’s degree in Public Administration while going to night school and also starting a family. Jason Critchlow is no stranger to hard work, managing priorities and staying focused on big picture issues.
“Jason has been a friend to working families for several years. He has shown his commitment to fighting for good paying jobs in South Bend and is not afraid of taking on a challenge. IBEW Local 153 is proud to endorse Jason Critchlow for Mayor of South Bend,” said IBEW President Bill Haas.
Todd Kegley, President of the USWA stated, “The United Steelworkers Local 9231 is proud to endorse Jason Critchlow for Mayor of South Bend. Jason has proven his dedication to working families and we know that his commitment to good paying jobs, health care, and retirement security are values he will carry into the City.”

“With so many families in South Bend still struggling, we know our future requires increasing wages and economic prosperity for everyone,” said Jason Critchlow. “I am so proud to receive the endorsement of the IBEW, Steelworkers and Plumbers & Pipefitters and look forward to working with them and all the working families of South Bend.”

The campaign has been endorsed by the South Bend Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). The endorsement adds to a growing list of individuals and organizations that have declared their support for Jason’s candidacy for mayor of South Bend, a list that includes current and former elected officials, as well as organized labor.
“It’s rare that the FOP endorses a Mayoral candidate, but Jason offers a refreshing view on how the police department and the city can work together to help reduce crime and create a better relationship with the community. We also like his vision for the future of South Bend,” said Harvey Mills, President of the FOP #36.
